Wildflowers & Walking. The Zagora Villages, Epirus, Central Greece. 19–26 May 2019

Epirus, Greece, walking and wildlife holidayAmong Grecophiles the Zagora villages in the Epirus region rank at the top of the list of favourite places yet it is a region that is surprisingly little known. The beautiful mountain scenery and flowers combined with astonishingly pretty villages make this a wonderful escape. We visit dramatic Vikos Gorge and Ioannina with its Ottoman influence and have a relaxing week discovering the traditional way of life. Our hotel at an altitude of 1000m has stunning views over Mount Tymfi and, as always, eating out in Greece in the evenings is a delight and great fun. We come across a wide range of interesting plants and butterflies and listen to the nightingale and watch out for birds of prey.
