Wildflowers & Walking. The Valley of Roses & Sredna (Central) Gora Mountains, Bulgaria. 7–14 September 2020
Bulgaria retains a very rural feel and the old traditions of art, music and dance are still very evident. Sofia, the capital, has some impressive old buildings while the countryside is full of wildlife thanks to its traditional agriculture. We will see a wide range of plants from diminutive alpines to large dramatic mulleins. Woodland is impressive with many large old trees of beech and downy oak. The pace of life is gentle and the people very friendly and helpful. Our traditional style hotel is in delightful Koprivshitsa which is rather like a living museum with its fantastic old buildings. Our walks take us into some lovely valleys and open meadows at the foot of the mountains and we reach a mountain ridge by cable car.
