We return to rural Sicily on the edge of the Madonie National Park. With its gently rolling hills, ancient woods, open moors with shepherds’ huts and mountain streams the scenery is quite stunning. Within the Park are pretty villages that have been influenced by the Saracens and the Greeks. There are lots of good walking trails to be explored and we should still see lots of colourful wildflowers and autumn bulbs. We are based not far from the medieval town of Castelbuono in a family owned property that is surrounded by orange and lemon groves. Sicily is a gastronomist’s paradise and our hotel grows its own vegetables and fruit and make their own pasta, olive oil and wine. We will also have a day at the coast at Cefalu.
