Wildflowers & Walking. Dublin Bay & The Wicklow Mountains. 6–11 July 2020
Amid the rugged wilderness of the Wicklow Mountains it can be hard to believe that Dublin is under an hour’s drive away. The area is still quiet and remote and provides plenty of lovely walks including the Wicklow Way. There are many beautiful rocky glens, forests, waterfalls, loughs and bog lands where heather gives a purple sheen to the land. Turf cutting is still a thriving cottage industry. The coastline is reminiscent of the South of France with its fine views and lush growth. We based not far from the coast in the village of Killiney where we have views of Dublin Bay and the Great Sugar Loaf Mountains. The area is home to many rare species of plants which are different to the rest of Britain.
